How to confirm your email on Portal das Finanças
Follow these instructions to confirm the email address on the Portuguese tax office's online portal.
Overview
After your receive your NIF, the Portuguese tax office (Finanças) will send you an email with the subject line "Envio de Código confirmação/fiabilização contacto". This email contains a code that you will use to confirm your email address on Portal das Finanças. If you haven’t received this email, don’t worry! We also have instructions on how you can generate a new confirmation code in Step 3 of this guide.
Follow these instructions to confirm the email address associated with your NIF.
Step 1: Log in to Portal das Finanças
1. Go to https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/
2. Click on the Iniciar Sessão button at the top right corner of the page.
3. Click on the NIF tab.
4. Enter your NIF number. Where can I find my NIF number?
5. Enter your password. When will I receive my password?
6. Click the Autenticar button.
Step 2: Navigate to the Contact Data section
1. Using the search bar at the top of the page, search for the keyword dados de contacto.
2. Find “Dados de Contacto” and click Aceder.
3. Under “Dados de Contacto” click the Consultar button.
NOTE: If you've already received your confirmation code via email, skip ahead to Step 4.
Step 3: Request a confirmation code (optional)
1. If you haven’t received your confirmation code via email, the “Estado” (Status) under the "Endereço de Email" section should indicate "Por Fiabilizar".
2. Click the Fiabilizar button. After a few minutes, you should receive an email with the subject line "Envio de Código confirmação/fiabilização contacto".
Alternatively, if the Estado indicates "Fiabilização em curso", it means that the code has already been generated and it was sent to your registered email address. If you’re unable to retrieve the code in your email, click Opções then select Obter Novo Código.
After a few minutes, you should receive an email with the subject line "Envio de Código confirmação/fiabilização contacto".
Step 4: Confirm your email address
1. With your confirmation code on hand, click on the Opções dropdown and select Inserir Codigo.
2. Copy the code you received in the email and paste it in the Código field. Click the Confirmar button.
3. You will see a confirmation message that your email has been confirmed. Click the Terminar button.
