How to get a Certificate of Tax Residence (Certidão de Domicílio Fiscal)

Overview

After you request to change your NIF address and remove your fiscal representative, the tax office typically provides a copy of your updated NIF document as confirmation.

In the event that you do not receive an updated NIF document, you can download a Certificate of Tax Residence (Certidão de Domicílio Fiscal) on Portal das Finanças to confirm your change of your address and withdrawal of fiscal representation.

Important Note

The Certificate of Tax Residence (Certidão de Domicílio Fiscal) will show the address that is currently registered with Finanças. If you have not yet requested to update your address and remove your fiscal representative, you can follow our guide on How to update your Portugal NIF address on Portal das Finanças.

Step 1: Log in to Portal das Finanças

1. Go to https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/

2. Click on the Iniciar Sessão button at the top right corner of the page.

3. Click on the NIF tab.

4. Enter your NIF number. Where can I find my NIF number?

5. Enter your password.

6. Click the Autenticar button.

Step 2: Navigate to the Request Certificate page

1. Search for the keyword Pedir Certidão using the search bar at the top of the page.

2. Find “Pedir Certidão” and click Aceder.

Step 3: Download your Certificate of Tax Residence (Certidão de Domicílio Fiscal)

1. In the dropdown menu, select Domicílio Fiscal then click the Confirmar button.

2. Click the Obter button.

A new tab will open in your browser with your certificate ready for download. See the example below.

If you'd like to cancel your fiscal representation with Bordr, email a copy of your Certificate of Tax Residence to support@bordr.com or upload it on the app.
